Same Day Spare Parts for the Apparel Manufacturing Industry
NEW DELHI, INDIA — NAFT (the National Institute of Fashion Technology) has launched a new platform to fabricate machine parts for apparel manufacturers. The platform – SDSP (Same Day Spare Parts) is a platform to fabricate the machine parts for apparel manufacturers using 3D printing technology. Additive Manufacturing or 3D Printing is an important component of Industry 4.0. 3D printing can play an important role in manufacturing frequently replaceable small parts at the point of consumption. While most of the sewing machine spare parts are currently manufactured in China, the rest of the specialized parts are supplied by the respective Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). Fashion is about change and slight modification of a style can necessitate a specific spare part at the production stage and availability of the right part at the right time can become a challenge. A presser foot of a particular specification may cost only 20 cents but may take 4-5 days to import. We at Same Day Spare Part (SDSP) challenge the industry stereotypes with 3D printing technology. Welcome to an amazing world of 3D Printed spare parts for sewn product manufacturing.
About SDSP
While everyone is talking about what all can happen with 3D Printing, we are making it happen with the Same Day Spare Part (SDSP) project. SDSP aims to deliver or make available the spare part within a single day – or same day. Inspired from the Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED), we call our effort Same Day Spare Part (SDSP). Apparel manufacturers can scroll through the e-catalog and download and print the spare part yourself or get it delivered within a day. www.spspnift.com
